Step One
What is your topic? (Make sure it is specific, and that you can find plenty of information on it!)
Step Two
Create your questions for research to help guide you. This is the Focusing Your Research sheet which can be found online. Create at least 10-12 questions you need to know about your project: who, when, where, what, why and how. Find as much information as you can!
Step Three
Research! Use as many sources as you can. Interview as many people as you can – be sure to keep track of ALL of your sources!
Gather any tables, charts, graphs, pictures, maps, artifacts, etc. that will be included in your project. These will be great additions to your projects, but also must be included in the report. Remember to keep track of your sources of each piece!
Step Five
Do you have all of your information located, organized and put into your own words? Then it is time to type it up into a report. Make sure you have an introduction and conclusion. The body of your report can be organized by topic/questions you created for research.
Create your display board! Refer to Ms. Gates’ website (PowerPoint and image) to find layout suggestions, tips and examples.
All writing must be typed, in an easy-to-read font.

- If you are going to be interviewing people, come up with at least ten questions before the interview to ask. These questions should not be simple Yes or No questions. Don’t be afraid to pry for more information if they did not give you enough!
