You must answer one of the following questions, PLUS the last question (two in total) - how you choose to present your answers is up to you:
- What are the main parts of the brain that help us make decisions (prefrontal cortex, amygdala and hippocampus)? What are their functions/how do they work, and work together?
- What is the difference between the teen brain and the adult brain?
- What is the importance of the teen years for the life span of humans? What is it about the teen years that helps us, as in the human race, live longer?
- What is the connection between the teenage brain and addiction? Why is excessive drug and alcohol use in the teen years so dangerous? Examine the influences that impact ones' decision-making abilities with alcohol.
Below is a variety of sites and sources for you to use to get started with your research. Please note that these all touch on the questions above, but in no way give you the whole answer. It is up to you to be able to show you can research, navigate the great deal of information out there, select the most important and relevant information, then present it in an appropriate way.

I am looking for an in-depth study of these questions, using MULTIPLE sources (at least four you must find on your own - the ones below do not count).
Using statistics, graphs, tables, diagrams, videos, photos are all strongly encouraged, but please remember that you must know and understand what they mean.
The purpose of this is for you all to gain a greater understanding of the teenage brain, and also to demonstrate an understanding in how taking risks is a part of adolescence, but must be done with great caution and understanding.
OUTCOMES

OUTCOMES
- examine influences that impact ones’ decision-making abilities about alcohol use
- examine personal, social, and cultural sources of influences on substance use, gambling and non-use of substances, recognizing there is a continuum of use and potential harms from substance use
- demonstrate an understanding that there are many factors that contribute to our health status
Videos
Surviving the Teenage Brain is a great documentary that touches on many of the questions above. Warning: It is 45 minutes long and, while very interesting, can be difficult to follow at times. It may be a good idea to watch in two sittings.
